My Art & Photography Practices

I’ve been an artist in some form or another my whole life. I started with sketching and watercolours, then moved on to other mediums, more recently digital art. I started studying photography and filmmaking seriously in 2016. This was largely inspired by my day job at the time, being a florist.

I actually have over 10 years experience working in the floral industry, and let me tell you – it was wild! Sometimes fun, sometimes exhausting and stressful, but very memorable. Making and photographing flower arrangements is what inspired me to pursue film and photography. I wanted to learn how to photograph different things, edit my work, style sets, direct actors, write scripts – all of it. Styling and photographing – first flowers and now food is something I hope I can improve upon overtime.

I would count myself fairly pro at styling flowers now, but food is difficult in a different way, especially when some of the recipes are from video games or fantasy-themed media. You’re working with different shapes, consistencies, substances that can be different temperatures, bizarre colours and textures, on pieces of pottery, and a lot of it is quite flat – no where near as 3-dimensional as a flower bouquet can be. I love this challenge – to make food look pretty and appetizing. I hope as time goes on with this site you can see me progress. Thanks for following my journey to work on this!
