Rhubarb Brandy Freezer Jam
A delicious homemade quick jam, also known as freezer jam, ready from start to finish in just 25 minutes! This recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups of jam.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen rhubarb, chopped
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 2-3 tbsp brandy
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Tools

- cutting board
- airtight container, for storage in the fridge or freezer
Instructions
- Wash or defrost the rhubarb and chop it into pieces.
- Zest and juice the lemon.
- In a saucepan, combine the rhubarb, sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and water to a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium and allow the mixture simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the rhubarb fully liquefies and the mixture thickens considerably.
- Remove the jam from the heat once fully cooked. The jam is done when you can run a spoon through it, and the spoon leaves a distinct trail across the bottom of the pan that doesn’t quickly fill back in.
- Stir in the brandy and vanilla until well combined.
- Keep this quick jam in the fridge for up to 7 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Artisan Jelly Preserves in Stardew Valley
Jelly can be made in Stardew Valley by popping any fruit into a preserves jar.
An artisan preserves jar produces a jar of jelly in about 2-3 days, then displays a small jar icon when your jelly is ready to retrieve.
You must possess farming level 4, plus 50 wood, 40 stone and 8 coal in order to craft a preserves jar.
These jars can be placed anywhere on your farm, in one of your farm buildings, or even outside of your farm somewhere in the valley.
Beyond jelly, preserve jars can also be used to make pickles, caviar and aged roe.
One surprising fact is that jars of jelly are actually not consumable in Stardew Valley, you must combine them in a recipe to make them edible, or sell them. You can also gift them, of course.
