Garlic Ginger Honey-Glazed Pork

This delicious and tender honey glazed pork with garlic and ginger is completely addictive! It pairs beautifully with rice or noodles and stir fried veggies, making for an easy well-balanced dinner. Inspired by the glazed meat recipe from Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, this is an easy stir fried savoury pork recipe you do not want to skip!

This glazed pork is so tender, so succulent, and so flavourful! It pairs really well with rice, salad, stir fried vegetables – just about any dinner combo you can think of. It blends well with seasonal meals too, although maybe most successfully with autumnal or winter dishes, due to the spice profile of the recipe.

So how is the pork so succulent and tender? The secret is baking soda! Before cooking your pork, cut it into cubes and let it sit covered in baking soda for 10-15 minutes before cooking, then proceed with the recipe.

I honestly don’t even bother to rinse off the baking soda anymore, since we are also adding quite a lot of vinegar to the meat and you get to enjoy that fun science class volcano reaction on a small scale. Don’t worry, it doesn’t make a large eruption by any means, just maybe don’t use your very teensiest cooking pan for this recipe – the pork needs room to breathe while it’s cooking anyways.

“Glazed Meat in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild: Raw Meat + Courser Bee Honey”

You can make glazed meat easily at any cooking pot in Hyrule by combining any meat cut with courser bee honey. Naturally due to the courser bee honey being an essential ingredient, this recipe will offer a temporary energizing stamina boost – perfect for climbing all those rocks and gliding great distances when you’re fresh out of gliders and hover bikes – right?

Garlic Ginger Honey-Glazed Pork

This succulent and tender honey garlic pork with fresh ginger and chives is ready to eat in just 45 minutes! This recipe makes about 4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 grams or 2 cups) boneless pork, cubed
  • 1-2 tbsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 2-3 tsp chili sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup fresh chives, chopped

Tools

  • bowl or container with a lid
  • frying pan
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • garlic press
  • fine grater
  • knife
  • cutting board

Instructions

1. Cut the boneless pork into cubes. Toss the pork in baking soda, then let the pork rest for at least 10 minutes, or up to 60 minutes before cooking.

Note: If your pork will be sitting any longer than 10 minutes, put it in a container in the fridge for this part, so it doesn’t spoil.

2. While the pork is resting, prepare the sauce ingredients: grate the ginger, mince the garlic, dice the onion, and measure out the vinegar, honey, and seasonings.

Perfect Honey Garlic Pork

This glazed pork is just so delicious, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It pairs beautifully with rice, or even a freshly baked bun and some fragrant pan fried mushrooms. Yum.

If desired, you can also increase the spice level on the pork further by adding some chili oil, or even Thai chili peppers. This recipe absorbs spice really well, so if you like spicy food, don’t hesitate to go far with this recipe.

If you want to add different herbs, fresh cilantro pairs amazingly well with this, as do green onions, or even fresh rosemary. Rosemary goes so well with meat dishes, I guess it’s just its place in the world of cooking!
